My writings have finally gone online!
A little rants about this humble soul..
I have always loved to write as long as I could remember.
I’ve been writing numerous articles to numerous local magazines, newspapers and online publications – mostly as an anonymous writer to express my few cents worth, with my not-so-competent command of english, I have been really glad to have the editors to fix my grammar mistakes and sometimes ‘beautify’ my articles before they are published.
Last year, I was featured in my company’s annual magazine, and one of the interview questions was “what do you like other than engineering?”. I didn’t have to think long before answering that question with a precise word “WRITING”. Two weeks later, I received the soft-copy of the magazine draft from the editor. While the photos of me posing at the staircase did not really turn out appealing, I really loved the way they wrote about me in just a short article. One of my favourite phrase was ‘an engineer who loves to write’. I never really looked at myself that way..The fact that I just love to write just comes naturally, and honestly I have not earned event a single cents from my writing contribution (except for some free copies of magazines, and some free calendars), i truly enjoy having this hobby. Yes, my daytime profession is a research engineer, and I do have to read a lot of technical datasheets, white papers etc. BUT I don’t write technical papers! I have written about almost everything but technical stuffs. My writings have gone to the most unexpected places – from road-safety campaigns, educational magazines, pet-lovers newsletters and even bridal magazines!
One thing that worth mentioned here is that I write everything local! When I say ‘local’ it merely means Malaysia. There are so much about Malaysia that is worth looking into, debated, argued, criticised or even sincerely praised! Is the grass always greener on the other side? I don’t think so. In fact, having gone to the other side of the fence, I can always see that Malaysia always have the greenest grass!
I only write about things which I believe would make a difference in someone else’s life..even the tiniest amount, as long as it matters. I don’t write gossips and I do not like to touch on religious or racial sensitive issues. I do not write fashion or latest trend as I believe there are many other important issues that mattered more than what-is-the-latest-style and how-to-apply-the-mascara-on-my-eyelash.
Why did I start this blog?
The idea of starting this blog came about when one of my friends told me that there are millions of writers starting their blogs online each day! Millions! I just have to be one of the millions! Blogging seemed to be the ‘in’ thing now. Though it is a very convenient way of writing, especially that the writers can remain anonymous, I do urge the bloggers out there to look up the Blogger’s Etique and try to be accountable for what they write.
